After a trigger point injection, it's important to avoid strenuous activities and heavy lifting for at least 24 hours to allow the muscles to recover. Excessive touching or massaging the injection site should also be avoided for the first 6 hours.
The frequency of trigger point injections depends on individual needs, the severity of pain, and the underlying condition. In some cases, a single injection may be enough, while others may require multiple injections, ranging from weekly to monthly. Generally, injections containing only local anesthetics can be given more frequently than those containing steroids.
