A DOT physical is a medical exam required by the U.S. Department of Transportation to ensure that commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers are physically, mentally, and emotionally fit to operate vehicles safely. The exam is mandated by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and checks vision, hearing, blood pressure, and overall health to prevent accidents and protect public safety. Drivers who pass the exam receive a Medical Examiner's Certificate.
