SPORTS PHYSICALS.
The new Florida state statute becomes effective in 2026 and requires an EKG be completed for "high school" students to be cleared for play and further defines "high school" to include 6th grade through 12th grade. As of now, the statute permits use of an EKG completed within the previous two years. An EKG is only a moment in time capture of the electrical activity of the heart, and It is uncertain if these guidelines will change to require EKG with every sports physical, but we are prepared! Dr. Joonie's is now including EKG with all sports physicals!
